ALTERNATING WEDNESDAYS

week 1 - May 13

Camera settings 101

This week, I'll be showing you the way around your camera. Each model is different, so I'll take time with each person who'd like help figuring out how to change their settings. Then, we will learn what all the numbers mean, the effect they have on your photos, and what to change and when. This class is for beginners and anyone starting from square one!

week 2 - May 27

taking better photos

Learn how to take a moment and make it into a great photo! We will talk about lighting, composition, depth of field/focusing on subjects, and get more practice changing camera settings to fit a lighting scenario. This class is great for anyone with a handle on their camera, who wants to take better photos with it.

Week 3 - June 10

camera settings 101 (again-ish)

This week is a repeat/hybrid of the two first weeks of class, for anyone who missed out or wants more help in manual mode! If you consider yourself new to photography but not a total beginner, start here with this class to build a stronger foundation for your camera knowledge.

week 4 - June 24

editing in adobe lightroom

This week, we're editing in Lightroom! Bring your laptop or tablet that's capable of running the Lr app. It can be newer version or classic, mobile is even fine! Consider arriving with it already downloaded and ready to open! I will talk about presets, making adjustments, editing styles and preferences, and best file practices.

week 5 - july 8

settings, lighting, and composition

This week we're rolling it all into one class, and we'll be taking the skills we have into the wild to photograph a night at Prison City Brewery. (Can we manifest a gorgeous night...!) We'll travel around as a group, photograph different scenes and talk about approaches for capturing a great photo!

week 6 - july 22

editing in lightroom

For our final week together, we will talk about editing your photos in Adobe Lightroom. You can get a free trial of the program on your laptop (check the dates and time it right!) or download a free mobile app for a tablet or phone. Prior to class, I'll be sharing homework on presets and how to add them!
